A ZOOM
Online Class
THE September 2022 CLASS IS BEING RESCHEDULED.

Email Maureen if you would like to be on a waiting list for this class.

Note:
The last 1 1/2
hours of class time each day will be set aside as work time plus as an opportunity for personal consultation with Maureen. This will be in groups of 3 via Zoom break-out rooms or small group spotlighting.

Listening in on consultations is a great way to learn. This work time also allows for those in later time zones to leave the class early if that works better for
them.

Class Description:  This class will cover the basics of working with polymer clay to create 3-dimensional faces. The demonstrated faces will be 3 to 4 inches tall as it is easier to learn sculpting techniques when working with larger sizes.

Maureen will do multiple demonstrations of her step by step process for creating her signature characters. There will also be technique handouts for your reference as you go about building your skills.

The ability to sculpt faces is a skill
that develops in layers, with each
face that you make a step in that learning process.

If you have already sculpted faces or have drawn, painted or photographed them you may already have embedded in your thinking processes the basic proportions and shapes of an average face. All of this helps.

BUT, if you are a beginner, be bold! Every face that you create will speak back to you with a distinctive voice. (At least that's what Maureen says.)
Three Masks, Polymer Clay

If you are an experienced sculptor, you may know most of the basics, but every tip gained is a bonus for you. Come prepared to ask questions regarding some of the sculpting problems that you may be having.

Driftwood Face 72

Students will be encouraged to imagine, to plan, to learn, to play, to get in touch with that part which yearns to create.  The focus will be on setting an atmosphere where wonderful things might happen, and usually do ...

Until then, something to think about:
Sculpting is about training your eyes to see, your heart to feel and your hands to move the tools.
