Requirements for Zoom

You will need a computer, laptop, tablet or phone that has a camera installed or attached as a webcam. We recommend that you use your largest screen rather than your telephone if possible.

INVITATION: Once you have signed up for the class you will be sent helpful tips for working with Zoom as well as a link to the Zoom class.

Class Description: This class, for beginners, is an introduction to sculpting faces in polymer clay.

The class will cover the basics of working with polymer clay as well as recipe-like steps for creating whimsical character faces. Maureen will demonstrate several ways to do this. Included will be flat-backed faces as well as full heads and mask-type applications.

The techniques learned could be used for making clay characters, figures, dolls, mixed-media artwork and wearable art.

TIMELINE: The class will meet twice with a week in between classes. This gives the students time to practice what is learned in the first session, then to come back with questions.

There will also be technique handouts and a resource list.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Maureen has found that having an expectation of humorous results helps first-timers get rid of some of their sculpting anxiety!

For most people, it is also easier to sculpt male faces than it is female faces. Very few people make a delicate fairy face on their first attempts. So come expecting to play ... and learn.
